Workshop performances may be a directorial qualification audition, an original piece by a local author, experimental theatre, a staged reading of a classic, a new talent showcase, an evening of improv, or a master class in technique. Workshops are free and open to the public.

How to Produce & Direct a Workshop at Elmwood
General information:

Contact Workshop Chairperson to secure workshop performance slot. Workshops are performed after the business portion of our monthly membership meetings, generally taking place on the first Monday of each month.

Workshop presentation must be decided upon and reported to Chairperson no later than 2 months prior to the Workshop.

Running time should not exceed 1 hour.

Open auditions for membership and general public are mandatory if you are using the Workshop in order to fulfill part of your Director Qualification Requirements.

There is no budget for a workshop or reimbursements for out of pocket expenses.

Workshop cast and crew members may not park in the Elmwood Parking lot as spaces are available to theatre staff and main stage productions only.

To gain access to the theatre code, contact the Theatre Manager, Mike Gnazzo. This code should not be shared with anyone.
Audition Process

Book studio space for auditions (& call backs) with Evelyn Russo, Theatre Operations Mgr.

Publicize auditions via Evelyn Russo, Newsletter, and Web Site.

Audition forms are available from Evelyn prior to your audition dates.

After auditions are completed, notify publicity departments of casting.
Rehearsal Process
All theatre and studio rehearsal space must be booked through Theatre Operations Manager, Evelyn Russo.

Main stage shows get preferential rehearsal time and space.

All props and set pieces must be struck from the rehearsal space after each rehearsal.

If rehearsals are held in the theatre during the run of a main stage show, you must have permission from the producers to move any set pieces for your rehearsal, and are responsible to put everything back in its place after every rehearsal.
Technical Rehearsal

Prior to auditions the director should secure a lighting designer (if applicable)

The director must book a technical rehearsal via Evelyn Russo and contact the Theatre Manager, Mike Gnazzo for assistance.
Costumes and Props

Elmwood Costumes may be borrowed and used for your workshop by contacting the Costume Chairperson, Mara-Lynne Brenner.

Costumes must be returned in a timely fashion and must be cleaned before being returned.

Props may be borrowed by contacting the Prop Chairperson, Kathy Gnazzo.
The General Monthly Meeting will begin at 7:30
Typically, Workshops begin around 8:45pm.
You are welcome to invite guests.
All props, costumes, and set pieces must be struck after the performance and put away. Costumes should be taken for cleaning.
The stage must be re-set if there is a Main stage show running at the time.
