A Statement from the Board of Directors

 In News

From the Board of Directors of Elmwood Playhouse:

As a theatre we have always strived to bring people together and to tell stories that reflect our diverse community. Although the current pandemic has prevented us from telling those stories through live performance, we still feel compelled to speak. Our hearts break for George Floyd, for Breonna Taylor, for Ahmaud Arbery, and for the countless others who have suffered at the hands of systemic racism and insufficient attempts to remedy historical and present wrongs. This is an American tragedy and if we are silent we are complicit. Today and every day we re-dedicate ourselves to lifting up the stories of those whose voices are silenced, and to work toward the realization of true justice and equality for all.

We wish you courage and strength in these difficult times.

Be well. Stay safe. Take care of one another.

Steve, Lisa, John, Larry, Claudia, Margaret, Kathy, Jimmy, Gail, and Ed
