Auditions for Rumors
Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack NY will be holding auditions for its upcoming production of “Rumors“, written by Neil Simon and directed by Kathy Gnazzo. Mayhem and confusion abound in this hilarious Simon farce about four couples gathered to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of their friends, Charley and Myra Brock.
AUDITIONS: Tuesday December 11, 2018 at 7:00 pm and Wednesday December 12, 2018 at 7:00 pm
CALLBACKS: Thursday December 13, 2018 at 7:00 pm (by invitation only)
PERFORMANCES: Friday March 15, 2019 thru Saturday April 6, 2019 (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with possible Wednesday and Thursdays)
SHOW DESCRIPTION:
The party’s about to begin but Charley, the Deputy Mayor of New York, has accidentally shot himself and his wife is missing. Their friends have good reason to keep this quiet. Ken is Charley’s lawyer, Lenny his accountant, Ernie his analyst, and Glenn is running for NYS Senator.
CAST REQUIREMENTS: (4 Males, 4 Females, 2 smaller roles – one male, one female or male)
Please note that these age ranges are flexible. The two officer roles are smaller and they appear only at the end of Act 2. Please be familiar with the play.
Ken Gorman – 40’s, high strung, tightly wound type and Charley’s personal lawyer, desperate to cover up the situation
Chris Gorman – 40’s, a contract lawyer and Ken’s wife, finds herself an unwilling accomplice to her husband
Lenny Ganz – 40’s – 50’s, Charley’s tax and investment accountant, has a nervous energy and a knack for quick retorts
Claire Ganz – 40’s, Lenny’s wife, a real country club type with a sarcastic wit
Ernie Cusack – 50’s, Charley’s psychoanalyst, has a calm demeanor
Cookie Cusack – 40’s, has a cooking show on TV, very poor taste in evening gowns and a back problem
Glenn Cooper – 40’s – 50’s, running for State Senator from Poughkeepsie, very concerned about appearances
Cassie Cooper– 40’s, Glenn’s wife, the Bohemian type, she carries crystals for spiritual calm
Officer Welch – 50’s, officer in charge, who comes to investigate
Officer Pudney – 20’s – 30’s Welch’s partner, a rookie (could be male or female)
Sides from the script will be made available at the audition. All roles available. Casting is open to all. Ethnicities, races, and newcomers are especially welcomed.
