Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack, NY will be holding auditions for its upcoming production of The Shape of Things, written by Neil LaBute and directed by Omar KozarskyThe Shape of Things is a modern love story that follows the relationship between Adam and Evelyn. PERFORMANCES: Friday May 12, 2023 thru Saturday June 3, 2023 (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays with possible Wednesday and Thursdays)

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
How far would you go for art? For love? These are some of the questions asked in this modern day Pygmalion. After a chance meeting, Evelyn and Adam become embroiled in an intense love affair. Under Evelyn’s influence, Adam goes to great lengths to improve his appearance and character — with both positive and negative results. The Shape of Things, which originally starred Paul Rudd and Rachel Weisz in both the stage and film versions, challenges the audience’s ideas about art, relationships and love itself.

CAST REQUIREMENTS: (2 males, 2 females)
ADAM – (Male 20s): “A diamond in the rough,” grad student; has the potential to be more attractive but a bit shy and unsure of himself. A very likable guy.

EVELYN – (Female 20s): Art school grad student; strong, opinionated, rebellious. She is both clever and determined. Attractive, but not necessarily “pretty.”

JENNY – (Female 20s): Pretty, polite, intelligent (but not witty); her life is perhaps a bit sheltered. Engaged to Phillip.

PHILIP – (Male 20s): Traditionally handsome, cool and even cocky; “charming” (at least he thinks he is). Engaged to Jenny.
