Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack, NY will be holding auditions for its workshop production of If I Loved You, a short play written by Elmwood member Albi Gorn. If I Loved You is scheduled as an off-book workshop production for the March 2026 monthly membership meeting.
AUDITIONS: December 8th and 9th 2025 from 7:30pm to 10:00pm at the Tarson Studio inside Elmwood Playhouse
PERFORMANCE: This will be a SINGLE performance event, to take place immediately after the public membership meeting at the Playhouse on Monday, March 2nd 2026.
SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Kim meets Esme and begins to experience an increasingly intense attraction to her. But Esme, despite welcoming the friendship, doesn’t seem to return the romantic feelings. Kim visits Zorina, a healer, whom she’s heard has a cure for migraines. While there, Zorina senses that Kim is going through something and eventually learns that it’s her unrequited love for Esme and gives her a love potion. But how will Kim use it?
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
KIM: Can be anywhere from mid-30s to mid-40s. A strong, independent and intelligent woman, who is susceptible to obsessive infatuations that never turn out well.
ESME: mid-20s to mid-30s. Pretty. Her default setting is sad and perhaps co-dependent. She’s a bit naïve, shallow and most comfortable when the talk is about her.
ZORINA: Middle-aged or older. A seller of powders and potions. At times, totally offbeat, during which she speaks with some kind of exaggerated Eastern European accent; at times totally with it and speaking normally. She is driven to heal.
Auditions will consist of reading sides from the play. Rehearsals will start in January 2026.
