Elmwood Members Are Finalists for ACOR Awards!

 In News

Elmwood is thrilled to congratulate two of our active members, Meg Sewell and Derek Tarson who are finalists for the Arts Council of Rockland Arts Awards in the Actor Artist category. The ACOR Arts Awards celebrate extraordinary artists and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to our local arts community.

Meg has a BFA in Acting from Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. She has performed regionally in the U.S. and at the Edinburgh Theater Festival as well as several local theaters. She has appeared in numerous Elmwood productions, most recently in The Lifespan of a Fact, during which she was instrumental in initiating the open caption program at Elmwood.

Derek has been an Elmwood fixture since 1987. On the Board of Directors, Derek is a Life Member and has acted in, directed, produced, and stage managed in countless Elmwood productions as well as numerous other local theaters in the area. In addition to the other roles he takes on at Elmwood, Derek manages Elmwood’s Public Domain Players, which conducts free readings of both classic and seldom-performed plays in the public domain.

The ACOR Arts Awards Celebration will be held on June 21, 2023 at Rockland Community College Ellipse Room from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are available on the ACOR website.

Elmwood congratulates all the nominees, and thanks them for their creative contributions to the community. We are especially proud to have our members Meg and Derek recognized by this esteemed organization.
