The Board of Directors unanimously appointed Loren Edelson to the vacant position on the Elmwood Board following the resignation of Stavros Adamides. Loren served on the Play Selection Committee last year to select the upcoming 80th season, and she was the dramaturg for last year’s production of The Book of Will. She has a Ph.D in Theatre from the Graduate Center, CUNY, and used to teach as an adjunct professor at City College. She wrote Danjuro’s Girls: Women on the Kabuki Stage in 2009, and her play “Gridlock” is one of the plays being produced this year in Elmwood’s One-Act Weekend.
Loren’s term starts immediately, but, pursuant to Article IV, section 4 of Elmwood’s Constitution and By-Laws, “nominations of other candidates may be made by any member . . . at any time prior to the [September] membership meeting . . ., at which time a vote of all candidates, including [Loren], shall take place.” If she is the only candidate, the vote may be taken by acclamation.
The Board warmly welcomes Loren to the Board and thanks her for her service to Elmwood.
