Meet the Director: Margaret Young (“A Sherlock Holmes Showcase”)
“Intimidating and exciting.” That is how Margaret Young – actress, director, singer, producer, and Elmwood Board member – views her first direction of a mystery, the upcoming A Sherlock Holmes Showcase, opening this Friday. After directing three successful comedies she looks forward to putting a new twist on these two one act adaptations of the iconic Sherlock genre. All the actors will play two roles, including Sherlock and Watson switching up theirs!
“I am constantly impressed by the incredible talent that comes to our Playhouse…”
An Elmwood member since 1997, and Life Member awardee in 2016, Margaret started directing in 2013 with the musical I Love You You’re Perfect Now Change. “I am constantly impressed by the incredible talent that comes to our Playhouse,” says Margaret. “Actors, designers, and crew consistently bring their best, keeping our productions at such a high quality.”

As a long-time Board member Margaret is proud to collaborate on upholding Elmwood’s reputation for quality theater and to being an ambassador to the greater community. She has helped implement Elmwood’s social media presence as part of the Marketing Committee, and created and coordinates the Sundays at 7 series as a community talent showcase and fundraising effort.
“I didn’t come this far just to get this far,” is a motivational concept for Margaret, who believes that “there is always more to explore: more stories and ways to tell them.” We look forward to her exploration of Sherlock at Friday’s opening night.
