Play Selection Committee for Elmwood’s Next Season
Anyone who is interested in serving on the Play Selection Committee and choosing Elmwood’s 2019-2020 season should submit a letter or an email expressing interest before Monday, July16th. The Board Committee will be conducting interviews with those who express interest.
The Play Selection Committee is a fun and rewarding way for members to serve Elmwood. The Committee reads plays suggested by directors (and possibly others) to determine a balanced season of six shows that will appeal to our audiences and yet be practical for Elmwood to produce. The Committee then meets with all potential directors to discuss their ideas and determine which shows and which directors should be selected.
We are looking for people who:
- Want to assist Elmwood by serving on its most important committee, which will determine Elmwood’s artistic direction in its 2019-2020 season
- Are willing to dedicate their time to numerous meetings and reading a large number of scripts (probably between 50-100 scripts over the course of 7-8 months)
- Have a wide knowledge of plays and musicals
- Have an understanding of Elmwood’s capabilities and audiences to determine a commercially viable season
To apply, please send an email or letter to Kathy Gnazzo before July 16, 2018. The email/letter should state that your interest in serving and a brief description of your qualifications. These may include the length of time you’ve participated at Elmwood, your familiarity with different plays and musicals and whether you have a unique or unusual viewpoint that could add to the diversity of opinions on the Committee. If you feel your qualifications are already well known to the Board Committee, a simple one-line email that you’re interested will suffice.
