Public Domain Players Focuses on the Strength of Women

The Public Domain Players will be presenting a free Zoom reading of three one-act plays – all written between 1904 and 1916 – focusing on the strength and empowerment of women:

The first play is “The Twelve Pound Look” by J.M. Barrie in 1914 –
A businessman about to be knighted hires a female typist – with whom, it is discovered, he had a connection in the past. The cast is:
Kate – Kelly Kirby
Lady Sims – Luanna Wriston
Sir Harry – Arthur Chill
Tombes – Derek Tarson

The second play is “Riders to the Sea” by J.M. Synge in 1904 –
A widow and daughters in Ireland must draw on reserves of strength to deal with the deaths of the men in the family. The cast is:
Maurya – Mara Karg
Cathleen – Nina Lionetti
Nora – Alexa Kelly
Bartley – Steve Bermack
1st Woman – Debbie Buchsbaum
2nd Woman – Kelly Kirby
Man – Derek Tarson

The final play is “Trifles” by Susan Glaspell –
Two women discover clues to a killing from little things (trifles) and need to determine whether to disclose them or not. The cast is:
Mrs. Hale – Debbie Buchsbaum
Mrs. Peters – Misti Tindiglia
Henderson – Bruce Pearl
Sheriff – Larry Wilbur
Mr. Hale – Derek Tarson
