Public Domain Players Present Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard”
The Public Domain Players will be tackling a play of Anton Chekhov’s for the first time this Saturday with a reading of “The Cherry Orchard.” The play involves Madame Ranevsky, an aristocrat whose wealth has diminished and returns from Paris to try to save her home and beloved cherry orchard from a foreclosure sale. As with all Chekhov plays, however, the story is filled with a rich ensemble and secondary plots that bring late 19th Century Russia to life.
The reading will take place in the Tarson Studio at 2:00 pm. on Saturday, the 15th (the same day as the theater’s garage sale). Feel free to come in for a little of the reading, even if you can’t stay for the whole play. Admission is free.
