Reading of Calendar Girls – Friday, March 19, 2021 7:30 PM
Join us for a reading of Calendar Girls by Tim Firth – Friday, March 19, 2021 7:30 PM
Calendar Girls, based on the Miramax motion picture by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth and directed by Margart Young, was expected to be produced in the summer of 2020 at Elmwood Playhouse.
For reasons we are all painfully aware of, we were unable to produce this sentimental and funny favorite. Now, through the magic of the virtual world you can watch a reading of Calendar Girls this Friday, March 19th at 7:30 PM.
Email readings@elmwoodplayhouse.com for the link.
We are very excited to welcome some new faces to the reading series.

When Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow WI members to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence. The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found family.
