NOTE: This is NOT an Elmwood Event
The Strange Bedfellows present one of Shakespeare’s best-known tragedies. The name alone conjures images of dead children! Richard III, as Shakespeare portrayed him, was a mass murderer who clawed has way to the throne and left a line of dead family members in his wake. This famous king was the model for President Frank Underwood in House of Cards and has been portrayed numerous times in film and fable. The Bedfellows present our version in a Steampunk setting with modern music and exciting stage combat. This cast contains a number of CST alumni who have returned as adults to continue their work with Shakespeare and the company, as well as several Elmwood members.
The Strange Bedfellows are the adjunct adult company of The Children’s Shakespeare Theatre. All of their shows are fundraisers for the children’s company. They have put on numerous Shakespeare plays but also original plays and modern plays by Tom Stoppard and Bill Cain. Members of the company have also appeared in immersive theater pieces for The Edward Hopper House and Nyack Artwalk.
