The New & Reimagined Opening Night Celebrations

 In News

Lots of wonderful things are happening at Elmwood Playhouse with our 75th Anniversary season, and the best of all was to launch the New and Reimagined Opening Night Champagne Treats & Toast. Since our Opening Night celebrations have changed, with our new Opening Night Team coming together, we started a new formula for our opening nights.  The support shown to both Kandi and I from the Board through our new liaison, Carol Napier, gave us both the confidence and creativity to find that special way to honor our opening night patrons and cast and crew, which is the foundation to our Opening Night mission, if you will.  But it is an ebb & flow to the reimagining of a new way to make such an honor present itself.  We took advantage with the delay of opening night from Night & Day which gave us a chance to break apart the two factors of our new tasks: giving out treat bags to the patrons and serving a champagne toast to the cast and crew.  Working through these two scenarios between two shows allowed us to fully understand the new formula–Sunday matinee got treats, and Friday evening got a champagne toast, each a happy success. We still have some kinks that may need more thought and preparedness to put these two factors together in one night and are working with the Team to get fresh perspectives and ideas for these new and reimagined celebrations of Opening Night.  Here are some festive photos as we handed out the treat bags. Sadly, I did not take any photos of the champagne toast though!
