David Vogel

An Elmwood member for 42 years, David has built nearly 120 sets, and is best known for his technical expertise at “flying, turning, revolving, rolling on, and elevating.” His personal favorites include Fiddler on the Roof, Man of La Mancha, Cabaret, She Loves Me, Candide, Sweeney Todd, Jekyll & Hyde, Ragtime, and Noises Off, a set that literally turned inside out on stage. In 1984, David was honored with Life Membership in the Elmwood Playhouse. “My thanks and appreciation to Crawford Deyo, my co-technical director, and Rob Ward, set designer and ‘construction maven.’ My longest and most joyful run has been as husband of Elmwood past president and director, Elaine. I love you.”
