The workshop  after the October membership meeting on Monday Oct. 5 will be presented by Elmwood member, Michael Edan.  He will present first act of his play Homecoming  The play was one of four winning plays invited to the 2014 Ashland New Play Festival in Oregon. It follows the reintegration process of Robert, a veteran from the Iraq War. Displaying a false resiliency, he attempts to keep his pain from the trauma of war hidden from his wife, parents, and best friend until circumstances build to the point of requiring him to make a choice.

The presentation, also directed by Michael, will be a staged reading (script in hand) that will include sound and lights, and will run approximately 55 minutes. It’s an opportunity for Elmwood members and non-members to view and support, at no cost, the work of a local playwright who has had several of his plays produced in the US and UK. His most recent full-length play A Red Bloom in Winter won ACT’s 2020 new play competition and was a finalist for the 2019 Stanley Prize for Drama. Cast members include: Aaron Newcome, Kelly Kirby, John Klemek, Madison Landau, and Mitchell Schneider. Lighting design is by Mike Gnazzo, Sound Design is by Matthew Schneider, Stage Manager is Allison Schneider.

The membership meeting starts at 7:30 and lasts for approximately an hour. The workshop will begin after a short refreshment break.
